June and July are the best times to see roses in full bloom in gardens across the U.K., not least Goldstone Hall Hotel. From the moment you arrive here at Goldstone, you are greeted by Rosa ‘Warm Welcome’ – a particularly striking miniature climbing rose with a mass of bright orange flowers which flank the stone entrance pillars.

In front of the hall we have planted out roses with warm tones to reflect the welcome you will receive here. All rose beds here contain under planting such as primroses, white bells and scilla to give colour from February onwards.

Rose Terrace
Over the last 30 years, we have planted a wide variety of roses at Goldstone, most of which have been chosen for their variety of colour and perfumed scent. Our fragrant summer rose borders are located in our terrace, which overlooks the walled garden – a perfectly well protected summer lunch, afternoon tea or romantic dinner spot!

The rose bushes here are a mix of old varieties which give continuation of flowering from June to September. They include: Rosa ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, Rosa ‘Tickled Pink’, Rosa ‘Iceberg’, Rosa ‘Silver Wedding’ and Rosa ‘Scent from Heaven’ – a rose which won Rose of the year 2017 and also International Rose Fragrance award 2017 at Paris – hybridised by local rose hybridiser Chris Warner.
Climbing Roses
The old wall protects the garden from a northerly wind and gathers the sun from the South side to create a micro climate; that with relatively light goldstone series soil produces a generally early flowering garden and safe haven for many delicate plants. Here you can enjoy bushy line of Ballerina roses which provide structure and continuity from May to October.
