If you can’t make the Chelsea Flower Show this week, why not come and immerse yourself in all things floral at Goldstone Hall Hotel?

You can enjoy horticultural gems such as our wisteria which is currently in full bloom and with a divine fragrance!

Our spring displays are an absolute delight and our terrace, which overlooks the walled garden, provides a well protected dining spot for enjoying afternoon tea.  The roses here will soon be making an appearance; highlights for scent are Rhapsody in blue as well as Scent from Heaven – a rose which won Rose of the year 2017 and also International Rose Fragrance award 2017 at Paris – hybridised by local rose hybridiser Chris Warner.

The old Robinia pseudoacacia – also known as Black locust or the false acacia tree – is a wonderful old gnarled tree which nearly hides the brand new Oak Gazebo. It’s currently in bud and looking promising to reveal the extremely fragrant, cream-white flowers, which produce large amounts of nectar. This is from where Acacia honey is obtained, known in the United States as Locust or American Acacia honey. The honey is extremely light coloured with sweet, floral notes and hints of vanilla.

There is also our beautiful laburnum arch interwovenwith ornamental vines, fragrant honeysuckle and clematis – a favourite with pollinators such as bumble bees.

In the evenings they make merry with their vibrating buzz and around the laburnum pea-flowers.

Our herbal walkway is also full of fragrance; you can enjoy the earthy, medicinal scent of thyme which is now in flower, the sweet aromatic aroma of both chocolate and apple mint and our curry plant which is at its most fragrant as the sun is setting. Our horseradish bed also has the most intoxicating fragrance which emanates out towards the laburnum arch, a stirring for the sensations as you enter the one acre kitchen garden.

We encourage you to sit a while and take in the sensations of spring!
