September is a magical time at Goldstone Hall Hotel & Gardens. The long, golden days of late summer blend seamlessly into the cooler rhythms of autumn, bringing a rich harvest from our one-acre kitchen garden. From crisp salads to plump fruits and warming spices, this is one of the most flavourful times of the year to visit our hotel in Shropshire.

A Bountiful Harvest in the Garden

The kitchen garden is at its peak right now. Squash and pumpkins ripen in the beds, ready to make their way into warming dishes at our restaurant in Shropshire, while apples, pears and late-season soft fruit are gathered for jams, juices and desserts. Chillies and spices add a dash of heat to balance the season, and edible flowers bring colour to plates and puddings.

Our team are also harvesting heritage vegetables such as beetroot, brassicas and Jerusalem artichokes – all fresh, seasonal, and making their way from plot to plate in our menus. It’s a feast for the senses and a reminder of why Goldstone is one of the most celebrated restaurants near Market Drayton and Newport.

This September we’re celebrating the season with special events for all ages.

🎃 Pumpkin Carving – Half-Term Fun
No one ever grows too old for pumpkin carving! Join us on Friday 31st October, when children can enjoy creating spooky or cute pumpkins in our Oak Pavilion. Tickets are just £4.50 per child, including juice, a brownie, and tea or coffee for one adult. Pumpkins and tools are provided – just bring your creativity (and perhaps your fancy dress!). 🎄 Christmas Wreath Workshops
Looking ahead, we’ll also be hosting festive wreath-making workshops with local florist Wild Mint Floral Design. Using seasonal foliage and guided by expert hands, you’ll create a beautiful decoration to take home.
